To continue improving the lives of people in Latin America, our P&G Panama organization pioneered a new approach that will allow us to sustainably and significantly expand the reach of P&G’s Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) program. Through a partnership with Shoot for Hope, an NGO that brings together photographers to promote social causes, CSDW will deliver more than two million liters of clean water to children and families in the remote area of Darien, Panama.

P&G created the Children’s Safe Drinking Water program with a diverse network of partners in 2004 to raise awareness of the clean water crisis. Since then, CSDW has delivered more than five billion liters of clean drinking water to those in need through P&G Purifier of Water packets, an amazing innovation that quickly transforms dirty water into clean, drinkable water.

At the start of P&G Panama’s partnership with Shoot for Hope, the photographers took a field trip to understand and document the water situation in the region. They then selected a group of the best photos and sold them in a silent auction. All the funds raised were donated to Fundacion Pro Ninos de Darien, an NGO that will use the money to purify water in Darien. P&G matched the donation, and DHL contributed as well by transporting the Purifier of Water packets.

This is the first time the CSDW program has been co-funded in Latin America. CSDW has been active in Panama for five years. With Shoot for Hope’s contribution, the total liters of clean drinking water provided to Panamanians will exceed 20 million.
