As part of our sustainability commitment under the motto ‘actions speak louder than words’, our Fabric Care organization released its fourth Sustainability action in 18 months*: 230 million bottles of flagship brands like Ariel, Dash, Lenor, and Downy Unstopables will be made out of up to 50% post-consumer recycled material (PCR). In total, this reflects an increase of 3.8 kilo tons in PCR—enough plastic to go from north to south pole if the bottles were laid end-to-end. These bottles will be on store shelves by the first half of 2016. This action helps consumers to make small changes without compromises, and it further strengthens our role as a sustainability innovation leader. It also represents another step in moving us closer to our vision to make 100% of our products and packaging from renewable and recycled materials. Click infographic to right for larger version. *Over the last 18 months P&G Fabric Care has 1) announced it will end the use of phosphates in its detergents globally, 2) launched a community center in Kenya, and 3) partnered with DuPont to introduce cellulosic ethanol into Tide detergent.
