Lengths hair donation program during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Created in 2006, Pantene
Beautiful Lengths inspires people to grow, cut and donate their
healthy hair to create free wigs for women who have lost their hair due
to cancer treatments.

so close to my heart! One of the most difficult moments of my life was
when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. I realized that
this disease comes without knocking on your door,” said Maite. “I invite

Real-hair wigs are extremely expensive and cancer patients often do not
have the resources to buy them. Pantene
Beautiful Lengths, through the American
Cancer Society, distributes free Pantene Beautiful Lengths wigs
through a network of wig banks nationwide. To date, Pantene
Beautiful Lengths has received over 450,000 hair donations through
the generosity of many men, women and children and more than 24,000
real-hair wigs have been donated to female cancer patients in need.

American Cancer Society estimates that approximately one in three
Hispanic women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their
lives. The probability of dying from cancer is about one in six Hispanic
women and is the second leading cause of death among U.S. Hispanics. A
study by this organization found that 58% of women consider hair loss as
the worst of the side effects of chemotherapy, and 8% of them are at
risk of avoiding such treatments that could save their life, for fear of
losing their hair.
Pantene is a brand that knows the importance of healthy, beautiful hair,
and the impact that it has on a women’s sense of self. That’s why in
July 2006, Pantene created Pantene
Beautiful Lengths, a campaign that inspires people to grow, cut and
donate their healthy hair to make free real-hair wigs for women who have
lost their hair due to cancer treatments. Since the program began,
celebrities such as Diane Lane and Hilary Swank have proudly donated
their hair to the cause, attracting the hearts and the hair of women,
men and children across the US. Regardless of whether individuals
donated in a private gesture at their local salon, or joined others in
the phenomenon of community cutting events, their generosity has
resulted in over 450,000 ponytail donations and the distribution of more
than 24,000 free, real-hair wigs.
American Cancer Society distributes Pantene Beautiful Lengths wigs
through its nationwide network of wig banks at no cost, and is the sole
