TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of its commitment to helping women, Pantene Canada announces its partnership with Lean in Toronto – lending its support to this local group with the aim of expanding the chapter to serve as a National organization. Lean In Toronto is a networking organization that offers professional women the inspiration and support they need to achieve their goals. Aligned with its recently launched Global Shine Strong campaign – which celebrates and empowers women to be strong, and shine on the inside and out – Pantene Canada has committed $50,000 to help grow the organization and launch a new network of chapters across Canada.

The Pantene Shine Strong campaign first took shape in December 2013 following the worldwide success of a viral video titled ‘Labels,’ originating from the Philippines, depicting gender labels in the workplace (more than 46 million YouTube views to-date). In June 2014, Pantene released another video entitled ‘Not Sorry,’ (14.5 million views to-date) to encourage dialogue about how women unknowingly minimize their strength with the subtle, yet powerful behavior of unnecessarily saying ‘sorry,’ when there is no reason to apologize.

“There is a strong appetite to bring our programming to other professional women who are eager to network and be inspired by other aspirational women,” says Sarah Kwan, Co-founder of Lean In Toronto. “In fact, the Lean In Toronto chapter has grown from 25 members to over 300 members just this year. Through Pantene’s contribution, women across Canada who are looking for empowerment within their careers or women who want to share their knowledge and champion greater opportunities for women in the workplace will now have a chance to connect through our growing community.”

“Pantene is committed to helping women across the globe, which is why this partnership with Lean In is such a natural fit for us,” says Melissa Karis, Beauty Communications Director, P&G Canada. “We hope that this evolution of the Shine Strong campaign and our partnership with Lean In Canada will help inspire and empower more women across Canada.”

As part of the Shine Strong campaign, Pantene recently created a YouTube Tag challenge, engaging inspirational and powerful young women to share their stories of strength, courage and empowerment. These tag videos aim to acknowledge the people, events and occasions in their lives that help them ‘shine strong.’ To watch some of these videos and to learn more about the program and Pantene’s global Shine Strong campaign, visit the Pantene YouTube page.

The Pantene sponsorship will enable Lean In Canada to expand its footprint beyond its current Toronto chapter and build a unified network of regional chapters in four additional markets (Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa.) Women interested in joining these chapters will have access to monthly networking events, executive speaking engagements and a new extended website to help connect with members across Canada.

Canadians interested in joining Lean In Canada or learning more about the organization can visit www.leanincanada.com and watch for new chapter openings across the country and the launch of the new website for Lean In Canada. Residents in the Toronto area can also attend the launch event of Lean In Canada on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at The Spoke Club (600 King St. West.)
