CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With 100 days until the start of The Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG), a Worldwide Olympic Partner, kicked off their Thank You, Mom campaign today and announced that several world-class U.S. athletes – and their moms – have joined its global family of athletes & moms. Lindsey Vonn, Evan Lysacek, Julie Chu and Taylor Lipsett, supported by P&G brands such as Olay®, Crest® and Bounty® join the elite line-up. As part of the 2014 campaign, P&G will launch a new Raising an Olympian film series, which showcases and celebrates the journey of these athletes and their moms to get to the Olympics.

After all the hard work of raising their athlete, some moms can’t afford to be there with their child at the Games, so as part of the 2014 Thank You, Mom campaign, P&G is proud to offer thanks to all 357 moms of US Olympians & Paralympians with a gift of a $1,000 VISA gift card to help them on their journey to Sochi.

“We’re so inspired by the commitment to excellence we see from these Olympic & Paralympic athletes,” said Jodi Allen, P&G VP of North America Marketing and Brand Operations. “We also recognize that behind every athlete is a mom that helped get them there, which is why if a P&G brand sponsors an athlete, we also celebrate their mom. That’s because our brands don’t just live at the finish line, they’re about the everyday journey athletes take to get to the Games, a journey that started in childhood with their moms.”

“I would never be where I am today without my mom,” said U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Vonn. “She has supported me every step of the way throughout my career, which is why I’m proud to partner with P&G’s beauty brands like COVERGIRL®, Olay® and Pantene®, because they recognize the journey we’ve taken together. I’ve also used their products for years to keep my skin healthy in the extreme conditions I face virtually year-round.”

Today, the first set of the Raising an Olympian film series for the Sochi 2014 Thank You, Mom campaign will be released. The series showcases the journey of world-class athletes, as seen through the eyes of their moms. Lindsey Vonn and her mom Lindy Lund are featured in the series, highlighting how Lindsey learned from her mom to be tough and overcome obstacles to become a world-class Olympic athlete.

The U.S. series of 10 films (part of 28 films globally) brings to life the daily lessons all moms teach their kids from their first steps to their first failures, and the unconditional love moms give their kids no matter what. Six additional films from the U.S. series will be launched over the next few months. All Raising an Olympian videos can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/user/proctergamble/custom.

“When we look at the determination, commitment and grit that gets an athlete to the Olympic Games, we see the mom who helped teach those values,” said Allen. “That’s why from Pampers to Crest and Tide, our brands exist to serve moms and their families.”

As part of P&G’s dedication to bringing the best to moms around the world, the Thank You, Mom campaign will come to life through a variety of media channels and in store. The new advertising will debut in January, 2014 and two million retailers throughout the world will feature P&G Olympic Games themed packaging, end caps and displays.
