McDonald: Confidence Is ‘The Spark Our Nation Needs’

The Cincinnati Enquirer recently invited local corporate executives to share, in their own words, what they wanted President Barack Obama to tell the nation as he prepared to deliver his jobs speech.

P&G Chairman of the Board, President and CEO Bob McDonald focused on the importance of building national confidence.

“The challenge of leadership is to give people the confidence that dreams can be achieved,” McDonald wrote. “The smallest of sparks will fire the largest of engines, and our economy is no different. The spark our nation needs now is confidence.”

McDonald also emphasized the importance of enabling American companies like P&G to better compete internationally.

“… winning at home is not enough,” he wrote. “We have to win everywhere that American business wishes to compete.”
