Perhaps there’s no better time to talk about hair removal than during the summer, when warm temperatures mean shorts and swimsuits are the attire of choice for many. 

Thanks to P&G’s newest innovation -- Naked Skin® -- women can safely achieve beautiful, longer-lasting smooth skin at home with convenience and privacy, without an expensive trip to the spa or the doctor’s office.

Naked Skin® is a professional-quality intense pulsed light (IPL) hair removal device. The device focuses intense pulses of light energy at hair follicles to pause the hair-growth cycle and put follicles to sleep, resulting in the prevention of hair re-growth in six to 12 treatments, or about six months. The product can be used on legs, underarms, arms, bikini,  and face.

Partnership Brought Product To Life

Naked Skin® is the result of a partnership between P&G and CyDen, a pioneering British beauty and health company leading in light-based cosmetic treatments.

The two came together through Connect+Develop (C+D), P&G’s open innovation program, through which we look for external innovation partnerships that can help us bring new innovations to consumers faster and at a greater value. Through C+D, P&G also looks to share its technology with other companies to advance innovation development.

The partnership highlights both companies’ shared focus on providing innovative solutions for consumers’ beauty and health needs. CyDen’s focus on in-home hair removal technology aligned directly with an area P&G had been investigating. Naked Skin® blends CyDen’s ipulse™ technology, with P&G’s expertise in design and consumer understanding, all with the goal of delivering a superior in-home hair-removal product to meet a growing consumer need.

Where to Get It

Naked Skin® is already available in France and in limited distribution in the UK, with plans to expand to key Western European countries in the fall.

While Naked Skin® represents P&G’s latest innovation in the hair removal category, it’s not the only one.

During 2011, P&G rolled out its Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo, a specially formulated two-step system that gently yet effectively removes fine to medium unwanted facial hair on the upper lip and jaw line, while minimizing irritation.
