P&G Ranked Among Top 10 Global Innovators

Each year, Booz & Company releases a list of the 1,000 most innovative companies in the world. This year, P&G earned a top spot – among companies like Apple, Google and Facebook.

The list is created through a study in which leaders around the world are asked to name the companies they consider most innovative. The 2011 survey focused on two specific qualities: strategic alignment and a business culture that supports innovation. These qualities, the survey suggests, allow companies to outperform their competition.

According to the study, “Every company among the Innovation 1000 follows one of three innovation strategies — need seeker, market reader, or technology driver. While no one or another of these strategies offers superior results, companies within each strategic category perform at very differentlevels. And, no matter a firm's innovation strategy — culture is key to innovation success, and its impact on performance is measurable.

"Specifically, the 44 percent of companies who reported that their innovation strategies are clearly aligned with their business goals —and that their cultures strongly support those innovation goals — delivered 33 percent higher enterprise value growth and 17 percent higher profit growth on five-year measures than those lacking such tight alignment.”

For the second year running, Apple led the top 10, followed by Google and 3M. P&G holds the #8 ranking, ahead of Toyota and Facebook.
