LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nominees for PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS 2012 were announced this morning at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills by Elisha Cuthbert (“Happy Endings”), Julianne Hough (“Footloose”), Joe Jonas (The Jonas Brothers), Jennifer Morrison (“Once Upon A Time”), Sharon Osbourne (“The Talk”) and Busy Philipps (“Cougar Town”), along with PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2012 host Kaley Cuoco (“The Big Bang Theory”) and Executive Producer Mark Burnett. Prior to this morning's announcement, fans cast more than 40 million votes to pick new categories and determine the nominees for the annual awards show that celebrates fan favorites in movies, music and television. For the first time ever, fans have used the write-in option to secure an official nomination; as a result Nina Dobrev has become a nominee for Favorite TV Drama Actress for her role in “The Vampire Diaries.” Katy Perry is the top individual PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2012 nominee with 7 nods across all three genres of movies (Favorite Animated Movie Voice), music (Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Song, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Tour Headliner) and TV (Favorite TV Guest Star). Top TV and film nominees include “Glee,” nominated for 7 awards including 6 talent nominations and 1 show nomination for Favorite Network TV Comedy, and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” up for 9 People’s Choice Awards including Favorite Movie.

  • FacebookFacebook.com/PeoplesChoice features a custom application where fans can personalize their voting experience, share their votes, enter to win tickets and submit their Facebook profile picture for a chance to be featured in the PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2012 live telecast on January 11.

Voting begins today for all 43 categories and will end on December 6, 2011. Winners will be revealed during the live broadcast of PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS 2012 from the Nokia Theater, L.A. Live on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. Tickets to the awards show are now available for fans to purchase through Ticketmaster. PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2012 partnered with Post Honey Bunches of Oats on the Honey Bunches of Votes campaign which kicked off today at the People's Choice Awards Breakfast Press Conference. Honey Bunches of Votes will grant their online community exclusive access to the People's Choice Awards via video content from the press conference posted to Facebook.com/honeybunchesofoats starting in mid-November. Honey Bunches of Oats will also be presenting two categories, “Favorite New TV Drama” and “Favorite New TV Comedy," which will remain open for voting until night of show on PeoplesChoice.com. All new network shows currently on air are eligible in the categories of “Favorite New TV Drama” and “Favorite New TV Comedy;” the top 5 will be announced December 7, 2011.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2012 will see the return of “Favorite Movie Star Under 25” presented by Moviefone, and the addition of a brand new category, “Favorite Movie Icon.” The winner of the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Movie Icon” will receive a one-of-a-kind custom award created by Waterford the official designer and house of crystal that produces the People’s Choice Awards trophies.
